She qualified as a barrister in 1992. She is a sole practitioner at Legal Swan Solicitors in Birmingham, a firm she established in 2007, where she now specializes in professional discipline and regulation.

She has experience in the area of ​​family law, conveyancing, personal injury claims, wills and estates and litigation.

Prior to 2007, Lubna worked at a large firm in West Yorkshire for 14 years, dealing with litigation and personal injury.

She is also a mediator (CEDR accredited) leading civil and family mediations.

Lubna works with a number of professional regulators. She is Chair of the Conduct and Jurisdiction Committee of the Health and Care Professions Tribunal, Chair of Adjudication of the Fitness to Practice Committee of Social Work England, legally qualified Vice Chair of the Committee of Fitness to Practice of the General Pharmaceutical Council and President of the General Chiropractic Council. She served as Chair of the Discipline, Appeals and Regulatory Committees of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants for 11 years and she also served as Deputy Registrar of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal for over 13 years.

She is a past president of the Solicitor Sole Practitioners Group (SPG).

Lubna has been a member of the Bar Council since 2013, representing the interests of sole practitioners.
