INVESTIGATION ALERT: Law firm Schall encourages investors in Hannon Armstrong Sustainable Infrastructure Capital, Inc. with losses of $100,000 to contact the firm

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Schall Law Firm, a national firm specializing in shareholder rights litigation, announces that it is investigating claims on behalf of investors of Hannon Armstrong Sustainable Infrastructure Capital, Inc. (“Hannon Armstrong” or “the Company”) (NYSE: HASI) for violating securities laws.

The investigation aims to determine whether the Company has made false and/or misleading statements and/or has failed to disclose relevant information to investors. Hannon Armstrong is the subject of a report published by Muddy Waters Research on July 12, 2022. The report states that the company’s accounting is “so complex and misleading that its financial statements effectively make no sense”. According to the research report, “HASI misleadingly inflates GAAP earnings in three ways: 1) Through a loophole in the arcana of accounting for renewable energy subsidies, HASI recognizes unrealizable non-cash revenue related to tax credits third parties that will be cancelled; 2) HASI generates non-cash income by manipulating the discount rate it applies to residual assets to implausibly low levels, thereby inflating its gains on securitizations; and, 3) HASI recognizes interest income from “paid-in-kind” (“PIK”) non-monetary interest payments, which are essentially IOUs from distressed borrowers. Based on this news, Hannon Armstrong shares fell more than 19% on July 12, 2022.
